New Spaces for Uptown Country Studio

I am so excited to share some photos of my new space at the Wexford General Store.  This is so fun for me because I get to introduce a whole new way to look and antiques and vintage items in what usually is a more traditional antique shop.  So far the response has been good!  It has been so much fun staging the spaces with all my favorite finds!

Gray Kitchen Cabinets?

So I found these photos on the fabulous blog Greige.  this is one of my favorite blogs!  As I saw these photos I thought, "GENIUS"!  I love light kitchens and currently have off white cabinets.  But with 6 kids under 10 they tend to get pretty dingy.  


Okay, that's an understatement, they get filthy.  My hubby, who I adore, but does not get it, says I should just clean them.  Well, this does happen daily...I believe I alone keep Magic Eraser in business.  However, they just never look good.  So when I saw this gray idea I thought, wow, this is exactly what I need to do.  I already found the perfect color, MS Cement.  So thank you to the fabulous Christina at Greige!  Now just to convince Mr. UC.

Paintings from the Barn in Westfield

I love finding old paintings.  I am not an art expert, I just buy what speaks to me.  Whether it is the colors, like the lilacs above, or the subjects, like the adorable cows, I just buy it if I like it and then find it a home on my wall.


My friend Eileen Thompson has an amazing antique shop in her Barn in Westfield, NY.  All of the pictures above were purchased from her.  She always had an amazing selection of artwork.  If you are ever in the town of Westfield, you must visit The Barn.  To say it is fabulous is an understatement!

Monday Mood Board- A Bit of Glamour

It's funny how I love so many different styles of design.  I especially love a contrast of old and new, glamour with vintage and so on.  Hence Uptown Country!  This is a mood board I created.  So love this style.  My home though is nothing like this.  Unfortunately this look does not work well with 6 kids and two dogs.  Anyway, I hope this brings some inspiration!  Have a great Monday!

Outdoor Spaces

I found this amazing blog, Greige Design, which means gray.  This blog is fantastic!  The pictures above are courtesy of Greige.   These for me are dream outdoor spaces!  I have a patio area that I plan on making fabulous!  Unfortunately I do not think I can get to it until next Spring, and unfortunately I have very little patience.  So many projects so little time!

So my husband almost flipped his lid when he stopped home during the day to find me painting our piano.  It was just so dark and really made the entry way look dreary.  I like it so much better!

 I love old paintings!  For some reason they are not a big seller at my shop, which so surprises me.  So I end up using them and making a nice little vignette.

The angel on the buffet was purchase at one of my favorite antique shops in Westfield, NY, The Barn.  Owner Eileen Thomas is fabulous and always has the best goodies at great prices.  You will see more of my purchases from her in future posts.  The fabulous buffet was a super great find for $35.  I used Martha's Francessca!

The above pics I bought for $5 a piece.  they were in very generic frames.  I found the frames they are currently in at a house sale.  They were a funky gold so I painted them white.  I so love how they look!

The piece above was a steal.  My dad, fellow junker, found this piece.  Before it looked like this it was mint green with funky handles.  I added the shelf on top.  I found the shelf at a house sale for $5.  I painted everything Martha Stewart Francessca, my favorite and bought new Pottery Barnish handles.  It is perfect for displaying some of my favs.  Like the oriental figures with the crystals.  I so love them!  Another great yard sale find!

One of my favorite bloggers, Parisienne Farmgirl, has made the cover of Where Women Cook!  This is huge and she so deserves the honor!  This chick rocks...I highly recommend her blog!

In the Garden!

I love to garden.  When we purchased this house 6 years ago the yard was a disaster!  I finally feel like it is coming together.  It has been challenging ... getting rid of the "ick" and planning out the new stuff.  Waiting for it to fill in, rearranging and finding a groove.  Did I mention I also have been pregnant for 4 of the 6 springs we have been here.  Very pregnant as all my babies are summer babies!  So I am pretty happy with the progress!
